Graduating to a smartphone

I must admit I have resisted. So for all my AAHAM friends and family who have teased me for not dumping my dumb phone and embracing a smart phone; it’s on my shopping list. I’m sure Apple will be happy with one more sale! I haven’t missed not being able to email pictures of food from restaurants or reading my emails from the road. And you don’t have to worry about me texting while driving because I rarely text except when I’m traveling. I have enjoyed my pet sitter&...

Simplifying & Savoring the Holidays

posted on
The expression, “time flies,” certainly seems appropriate this time of the year. It’s not even Thanksgiving and already the stores are playing Christmas music and holiday decorations line the shelves. It doesn’t seem that any store misses the chance from Walgreens to Home Depot; where ever I go the holidays are everywhere. I think it’s important to step back and try to simplify; savoring the small stuff.  The holidays seem to be a whirlwind as soon as the ...

Wow, the ANI was so much fun! As you may have heard, the big news is we modernized the names of our certifications and we added a new, mid-level certification, the CRCP. A group of us had been working hard all year on this and we kept it a secret until the big reveal. I have to admit, I’m so relieved the secret is out!

When the ANI heads to New Orleans in October, we won’t be alone. New Orleans, no matter what time of the year, is a favorite city for conferences, meetings and vacations. Savor the summer; ANI comes in autumn

posted on
We are on the home stretch of summer and soon turning the corner to fall. The kids are starting to think about going back to school and here at our national headquarters August means plans for the upcoming ANI are in full swing.I love the change of seasons but I savor these long summer days when my dogs and I can head out in the coolness of evening for our nightly walks without walking home in the dark. Washington and Northern Virginia are known for their long steamy summer days. It’s hard...

There seems to be differing in opinions on what employees should pay and what employers should cover when it comes to membership, career development, networking and continuing education for an employee. Having been an employee and now an employer; I can see many perspectives. As the Executive Director of AAHAM, I also hear the views of our members.Being involved in an association takes commitment and time as well as expense but it is certainly vital in career development and personal growth. Ask...
