I have spent a lot of time lately hearing about all the negative things going on in the world…whether it is the civil unrest in Ukraine, nasty snow now turning into nasty floods in the Midwest, potential shoe bombers making our friendly skies a lot less friendly, or even the fact that once again our office lottery pool did not pay off in winnings.
I just want to hear good news for a change! Obviously, I don’t have the power to make all the bad go away, and it would be completely irresponsible of me to just ignore everything that I don’t want to hear…so I have decided I just need to cocoon myself in some positives. I have resolved to try and let the positive I take in outweigh the negative.
So – some positives for today…fortunately, I live in Florida, so the weather is glorious. Don’t want to make anyone else jealous, but it is 85 degrees and sunny with no humidity. Doesn’t get any better than that.
My four year old grandson, who is very shy and hates to be on display, actually moved off of home plate at T-ball last night and went to first base. He walked with his head down, but he did it! This is huge progress from refusing to leave the bench. We cheered like he was Babe Ruth.
Valentines Day was last Friday, and there is still some candy left in the big red heart. Looking forward to the square one in the middle when I get home tonight, I think it might be a caramel!
More Olympic coverage tonight – that has been such a pleasure to watch. Go USA!
A friend just had precious identical twin baby girls, and I get to meet them tomorrow night. Nothing else makes you feel as happy as brand new sweet little baby faces.
I have been hearing some sneak previews on all of the exciting plans for AAHAM’s 10th anniversary celebration of Legislative Day. That really makes me happy. I am so excited. I attended the first one back in 2004, and have not missed one since. I love that feeling of making a difference, seeing our government at work (or not as the case may be, LOL) and feeling part of a powerful voice – the AAHAM voice. Join us April 23-24th – and you can feel the positive, too!
I could go on for pages and pages of all the positive things that surround me every day, but I just wanted to make the point that if we stop and think about it – there are so many wonderful things to the thankful for. Take a moment and concentrate on it…you will be amazed at how much better you feel.
Hope to see you in Washington, DC in April!
