Certification 2016 - We are ready. Are you?

posted on

Well 2016, has arrived and with that comes some changes within the Certification Chairs and Committee Members.   I want to reiterate that just because the members may change every few years as new Chapter Presidents are rotated in, it does not mean that AAHAM is not hard at work all year long.   We have to be in order to ensure that as an organization, AAHAM is providing you the best in healthcare certifications.

The new committee and chairs for 2016 are as follows:

Executive Certification      -   CRCE- I and CRCE - P

Committee Chair       -   Kristina Mori Donohue – Maryland Chapter

Members                  -   David Nicholas – Virginia Chapter

                                               Steven Honeywell – Philadelphia Chapter

Brenda Fraas – Three Rivers Chapter

Professional Certification   - CRCP-I, CRCP-P and CRIP

Committee Chair      -   Brenda Chambers – Virginia Chapter

Members                 -   Jane Vizvarie – Twin States Chapter

                                              Bill Majors – Keystone Chapter

                                              Maya Mohan – Chennai Chapter

Specialist Certification     - CRCS – I, CRCS – P and CCT

Committee Chair     -   Doris Dickey – Illinois Chapter

Members                -   Colleen Wentz – Inland Empire

Sandra Pfeffer – Western Reserve Chapter

                                             Heather Bode – Rushmore Chapter

Certification Reporting Officer:

Lori Sickelbaugh – National 1st Vice President - Carolina Chapter

The committee’s started off this year with a goal established by our new National President, John Currier. The goals he set for each committee are as follows:

To increase certification by the following percentages:

CRCE              20%

CRCP              20%

CRIP               40%

CRCS              30%

CCT                30%

As you can, we have a big push to increase the number of certifications we have.   Can we achieve that?   Absolutely!   There is nothing that the Certification Committee’s cannot do. Working hard and being positive helps us to reach these goals.

Did you think that was the only goal we established?   Well it was not. Each committee also set its own goals for this year as well.   Here are some of the things we will be doing in 2016:

  • Revisions to all certification manuals

  • Exam question re-writes for each certification

  • Certification Blogs to be done monthly by each committee member

  • Certification Webinars to be given to assist with providing additional information to successfully pass the certification exam

While I only listed a few of the overall certification goals above, there are many individual goals that we have established for each certification specialty. The committee chairs will share these goals with you during the course of this year.

We are excited about what lies ahead in certification and we cannot wait to share all of the wonderful things about the work we are doing with the certification program.

So be on the lookout!  More updates will be coming to you shortly.
