The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) to Hold Annual National Institute 

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , will hold its Annual National Institute (ANI), “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” October 17-19, 2012 in Bonita Springs, Florida at The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort. 

During three days, attendees from across the country will attend educational sessions, network and visit a spacious exhibit hall packed with the latest products and services available to the industry. 

“With our focus on the changes in healthcare reform, this year's conference is especially timely” said AAHAM President, Christine Stottlemyer, CPAM. “We pride ourselves on the level of our educational and networking opportunities. Peer relationships are developed at AAHAM that assist in professional growth and personal development” Stottlemyer said. 

Over 50 speakers will present topics on five separate healthcare tracks; Management/Revenue Cycle, Access/Quality Management, Compliance, Leadership/Professional Development and a Specialty track. Keynote speakers include Jan McInnis, Christina Thielst and Paul Miller.

The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) Holds 8th Annual Legislative Day 

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , a professional association, held its eighth annual Legislative Day, April 11-12, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill.

The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) to Hold Annual Legislative Day

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , a professional association, will hold its annual Legislative Day, April 11-12, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. 

Invited speakers include:
Brad Schweer, Legislative Director to Rep. Lee Terry (R-In), Jennifer Tolbert. Kaiser Family Foundation and Kimberly Overbeck, Budget Review Director, Minority Staff of the House Budget Committee.

“Legislative Day provides a valuable opportunity to meet with key leaders to communicate our perspective on healthcare challenges” said AAHAM President, Christine Stottlemyer, CPAM.

“It also provides an excellent forum to hear about the critical healthcare issues that are being addressed in Washington today from prominent speakers. With the 2012 elections just around the corner, this is a very significant time for our members to be in Washington” added Stottlemyer.

AAHAM’s 2012 Legislative Day focuses on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). AAHAM feels it is imperative that Congress take immediate action to modernize the TCPA for the 21st Century. The TCPA should recognize a consumer’s right to consent to receive phone calls that are made to their wireless phones, including use of an auto dialer or prerecorded message, by those with whom the consumer has an established relationship, if that number is provided by the consumer.

The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) Annual National Institute Held October 5-7, 2011. 

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , held its Annual National Institute (ANI), “A Winning Combination”, October 5-7, 2011 Las Vegas, Nevada.

Attendees from across the country attended educational sessions, networked and visited exhibitors to learn about the latest in products and services available to the industry. 

“Despite the lure of the casino and other attractions, attendees packed the strong educational sessions” said President, Laurie A. Shoaf, CPAM. The nearly 600 conference goers included patient account managers, business office personnel, medical billing professionals, medical office managers, patient access managers, coding specialists, compliance officers and hospital chief financial officers. 

Keynote speakers included award winning business leadership coach, Don Yaeger, James Whicker, CPAM Principal Consultant from Kaiser Permanente and Laurie Darst, Regulatory Advisor from Mayo Clinics. Washington politico, Paul Miller of Miller Wenhold, LLC, presented the Institute’s standing room only closing session about the current political atmosphere and a review of the potential candidates for the 2012 elections.

Over Fifty session speakers presented material on five separate healthcare tracks; Management/Revenue Cycle, Access/Quality Management, Compliance, Leadership/Professional Development and Specialty topics.

National Patient Account Management Day: October 18th 

FAIRFAX, Va.—The American Association of Healthcare Administration Management has announced that National Patient Account Management Day will be observed on October 18.

Now in its 22nd year, National Patient Account Management Day was established on October 18, 1989 by a proclamation from the U.S. Congress when AAHAM (then AGPAM) sought to officially recognize people involved in healthcare administration management throughout the country. 

National Patient Account Management Day will be part of a week long celebration, October 17-23, by hospitals, physician offices and others involved with patient account management to recognize and honor the individuals engaged in healthcare administrative management. It is a time where managers recognize their staffs and the public may become aware of the profession. 

This year’s theme is “The Feeling of Pride” which addresses recognition of the exemplary work that is conducted by healthcare administrative management teams in hospitals, physician practices and healthcare related industries. Through the AAHAM online store, AAHAM sells a wide array of products to commemorate this special week.

The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) Appointed to WEDI Board 

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , was appointed to fill vacancy on the WEDI board. 

We are pleased to announce the appointment of AAHAM to fill the not-for-profit vacancy on the WEDI Board. AAHAM Chairman of the Board emeritus, Linda Sheaffer, CPAM, CCAM, Director of Patient Administrative Services of WellSpan Health System, will be AAHAM’s representative and will serve a two year term. “I am honored to serve as AAHAM’s representative” said Linda Sheaffer, CPAM, CCAM. “I am looking forward to a very productive and exciting two years” Sheaffer said.

Fairfax, VA – The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org , a professional association, held its seventh annual Legislative Day, March 30-31, 2011 at the Liaison on Capitol Hill.

Speakers included:

-Elizabeth Jurinka, Staffer to Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR)

AAHAM issues were included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, signed into law on March 23, 2010. This year, AAHAM is asking that Congress keeps the provisions in the current law on Administrative Simplification.

The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) to Exhibit at HIMSS 2011

FAIRFAX, Va. The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) www.aaham.org will be a collaborating exhibiter at the upcoming 2011 HIMSS Annual Exhibition, February 21-24, 2011.

AAHAM will participate as a co-sponsor and exhibitor at the HIMSS Medical Banking Institute during the 2011 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. AAHAM’s booth number is 17 in the West Building Lobby B of the Orange County Convention Center. .
